Geoquest USA, Inc. is a civil engineering design company and material supplier specializing in retaining walls, arch structures, sound barriers, and other infrastructure systems. Formerly known as The Reinforced Earth Company (RECo), we’ve been a trusted name in the industry for over 50 years and are proud to carry that legacy forward under our new name.
A Legacy of Innovation Since 1971
Our story began with the invention of modern Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) by French engineer Henri Vidal, who patented the technology in 1963. Operating in the United States since 1971, we are part of the global group now known as Geoquest (formerly Terre Armée), which operates on six continents and has completed over half a billion square feet of MSE retaining walls—roughly the size of Manhattan.
In the U.S., we pioneered the use of MSE walls with our product, Reinforced Earth®, and have led the industry for more than 50 years. Our engineers have played a key role in developing today’s standards by collaborating with transportation agencies, universities, and the Association for Mechanically Stabilized Earth.
What began with a small team repairing a landslide in California’s Angeles National Forest has grown into a nationwide operation backed by hundreds of years of combined engineering experience. Our civil, structural, and geotechnical engineers continue to deliver innovative solutions across a wide range of applications—from highways and railroads to bridges, dams, mining, military, and private development.

Local Experience, Global Expertise
Our portfolio has grown well beyond our original MSE retaining walls. Today, we offer a wide range of engineered solutions, including permanent and temporary MSE systems, precast modular retaining walls, arch bridges and tunnels, sound walls, traffic barriers, and other specialty structures tailored to project-specific needs. In 2018, we expanded our offerings with the addition of T-WALL®, a proven retaining wall system widely used in highway and railway construction for decades.
We control key aspects of our supply chain, manufacturing critical components such as soil reinforcements and precast elements at our own facilities and through a trusted network of partners. This integration allows us to ensure quality, streamline delivery, and respond quickly to the needs of each project.
